Greek Yogurt!!

I was worried that being lactose intolerant, I couldn't have my Greek yogurt anymore. However, according to this website and others I have looked at, Greek yogurt contains half of the lactose that regular yogurt contains, making it safer for me to eat. This also explains why when I usually eat Greek yogurt, it doesn't hurt my stomach. Lactose intolerant people can sometimes handle small doses of lactose.

Total Twist

I had some testing done at the doctors and I have been diagnosed with IBS, which is irritable bowel syndrome. Due to my clearly irritable stomach, I decided to go gluten and dairy free. I've had such a rough time with it lately because an adjustment so big is hard!

Revived From the Dead

I'm alive. After Spring Break I was hospitalized for a GI bleed. Everything ended up being okay but now I am on a special diet. No gluten or lactose for me. This could be good but a hard adjustment. Stay tuned for many food posts.

Peanut Butter

So lately at work, instead of giving into the Scotcheroo bars that make my mouth water, I've been taking eating a spoonful of peanut butter. That's better, right? Well I'm wrong. I've always been skeptic of peanut butter because I know it's high in sugar and fats. Well my gut feeling is right according to the blog post from a nutritionist. Luckily, she lists some alternatives. I love almond milk so I'm sure the almond butter would be delicious, but boy is this stuff more expensive. I trust this woman's blog because she is a certified nutritionist.

Greek Yogurt vs. Regular Yogurt

I like Greek yogurt more than regular yogurt because of the the texture. It's thick and creamy which appeals to me. I have been pushing my mom a lot to start buying Greek yogurt but she is so hesitate because of the price. Is it worth the price? Watch Dr. Oz.

Green Tea

After getting laryngitis I had to cut off coffee. It was too harsh on my throat so I switched to green tea. I would put I raw sugar and honey in it it to soothe my throat. It did make me feel better! And after reading numerous articles on green tea, I'm hooked. It's super good for you and makes me feel refreshed. Instead of drinking coffee which leaves me dehydrated, I drink one cup of green tea and then water for the remainder of the day.

Benefits of being hydrated

1. Drinking water helps maintain the balance of body fluids.

Breakfast

I eat breakfast everyday. Some people wonder how I have time for that in the morning but it only takes about 15/20 minutes. I make two eggs everyday with bacon, if we have bacon, and brew my coffee. I noticed that the days I wake up late and don't eat breakfast, I'm tired. Having breakfast in the morning wakes me up! But my mom can't keep up with how many eggs we have and she needs to buy another pan. We only have one and it's so annoying to clean frequently.

Spring Break!

So I thought I was just going to sit on my butt and go to work all spring break but there has been a change of plans. I am going to Daytona beach in Florida with a group of friends! I am so excited, but that means I need to get skinny, fast. So no more cheat days, cutting back on my portions, and more running! I'm not excited for my workouts but I'm excited to look nice and walk around on the beach. I'm going hard this time!

Addicted to these!

Source of Picture: Amazon.com

I eat these quite often. When I'm at work, to keep my hand away from the pastry case I'll grab one of the Clif bars that we sell. I have read on numerous websites that they aren't good for you. They're made for people hiking who need a lot of sugar and carbs to burn. I don't work out that intensely so maybe I need to give them up. Everything in moderation...

Boo Shoes

I am so upset! I have a nice pair of black Nike's I wear all the time and I love them. I even work out in them. I wore them once without socks and they're done for. Every time I wear them now, they smell SO bad. My feet stink up a whole room. It's gross but I'm still wearing them. I love them. I'll just have find a way to unstink them at home with Pinterest. Also, my ankles starting hurting pretty bad the days after my workouts, I asked my mom about it and she said it's my shoes. They're not supporting my legs the right way when I run. That sucks. 1. Because I can't wear these shoes running anymore. And 2. Because now I have to spend money! Running shoes are expensive.

I should probably check this process out... Source: eHow.com

Dead and Reborn

I started going to a circuit training class with my friend Tracey, who is also my coworker. It's on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Kettlebell in Spring Arbor. The class I take isn't Kettlebell, it's Jill's personal classes. The first time I did it, it kicked my butt. I wasn't even done with the first round and I was sweating and out of breath too! For goodness sakes, there was an old lady doing more work than I was. I half-assed the second round because I was so tired. Jill said I did great for my first time. That sure shocked me. That was last Thursday and I went again on Tuesday. I felt awesome afterward. I reserved much of my energy for the second round because that's what beat me bad last time. I got done with the class and felt like I should have pushed myself harder, which is what I'm going to do next time. I'm excited, I'm getting in shape! Mostly, it's women that go. Class is cancelled this Thursday sadly, Jill had a death in the family. But I'm excited to go now. It's a good workout and I don't feel like I'm dying anymore.

Underwear or a constant wedgie?

Underwear is probably the stupidest thing ever invented. I get so many god damn wedgies from underwear. It's more uncomfortable than protecting. I feel much more comfortable when I'm not wearing it. God, you gotta let that thing air out! The only time I personally wear it is when I'm having woman issues, when I'm wearing coarse textured jeans, or when I exercise. The only time necessary to wear underwear is when you're exercising. Sweat and your special area do not mix. I've done my research and people can stop judging me now! The only reason why we think wearing underwear is important is because that's what society has told us. Relax people and let it breathe. I do shower, ya know. But I can't stress how important it is to wear underwear when you exercise. Do it, or you'll be sorry.

Things to know if you wear it, Ladies

OCD

I really notice my OCD when I'm running. I know it sounds weird, but let me explain. Some people can make a three mile loop around town somewhere that drives me nuts! How am I supposed to know when I'm halfway, or no its my last lap that I sprint. I can't run on treadmills, I get too bored and the time seems longer. I like running on a track, I can keep track of my progress! I also bought a watch to keep track of my lap times... I don't understand why I'm so weird like that. Oh well, I'm consistent? Anyway, I'm OCD all the way down to exercising. I'm weird.

Valentine's Day

I'm naughty. One cheat day turned into and extended weekend. Eating all that sugar Friday and then people taking me out to eat to celebrate... It's rough sticking to it. I think cheat days are necessary though. Who can eat healthy full time and not salivate when someone shoves boxes of chocolate in their face. My cheat day turned into a weekend but that's why I'm running three miles today... yay. I'll regret my bad eating habits when I cramp from running. What you eat really effects how you feel when you exercise! Anyways, strict diet this week because of my weekend.

Mondays

Oh Mondays, they suck. But I'm sure that's something everyone knew.Yesterday was cheat day, yes cheat days are allowed on this diet. Not having one is so unrealistic! How can I not crave the salty, hot fries that McDonald's serves or sweet Lindor truffles? Maybe if I lived somewhere in Africa where my only choices are rice. I don't know... This country markets us too much for someone to not want to eat chocolate instead of cucumbers. Anyway, going from garlic bread and pizza Sunday, then eating a salad for lunch sucks! Pizza is my FAVORITE. Valentine's day is my cheat day this week, so someone better buy me the best of best when it comes down to chocolate. That's all I look forward to, is cheat day. Today I did a light exercise. I did some stairs, stretched, ran a mile. I didn't feel great doing it but what could I expect after eating all that junk food. Tomorrow's run should be better.
